CONSTRUCTION OF BIGGEST STEEL PLANT IN VIETNAM

Construction of the biggest steel rolling plant in Dung Quat Economic Zone, central Quang Ngai province, was kicked off on October 24 by the Tycoons Worldwide Steel Vietnam Company Limited, a joint venture between Tycoons and Taiwan’s E-United Group. The plant is built on a total area of 450 hectares with a total investment capital of over US $3.32 billion. Of this, total investment in the first phase is put at US $1.83 billion. The factory will be equipped with modern technology, energy-saving and environmental-friendly facilities. Upon its completion, it has a design capacity of 5 million tons of steel ingots annually. After the first phase, the plant’s capacity will be 3 million tons of steel ingots a year. The plant is scheduled to be operational in mid-2010 and provide jobs for 25,000 people.
